How to read these numbers

We check for new releases weekly. Monthly figures keep their original month until a new file is available; a fresh check does not turn monthly data into weekly data. Changes compare the same provider, geography and metric. Percentage-point changes are different from percentage changes.

Weekly sales figures come from Howard Hanna NYC’s borough reports. Monthly asking rents, rental inventory and price-cut shares come from StreetEasy’s public data download. These series have different listing coverage from the Corcoran reports in our dated features and should not be joined into a single trend.

National average for conventional, conforming purchase loans, 20% down and excellent credit. This is an interest rate, not APR or a personalized lender quote. The displayed rate is an interest rate rather than APR. A price reduction is also different from a negotiated closing discount.

Brooklyn · New sale listings: Calculated from 231 new listings and 200 in the preceding report: +15.5%. The source prints +15%; that rounded figure does not reconcile exactly with its reported counts.

Source values can be revised. If a new release cannot be verified, we retain the last verified figure and its date, and label an unavailable source check. The stories below remain dated editions.
